Can I use Decimate to decimate only part of my model?

Yes, decimation can be performed on a selected area or to the entire model in Polygons>Decimate.

If you only want to decimate the triangles on part of the model, select the triangles desired for decimation, and then go to Polygons tab and click on Decimate.

If there are no triangles selected, the command will decimate the entire model.
